Award winning artist Martin Bettin is a noted pastelist and animal portraiture artist. Martin’s affinity with horses began in New York City, where he came to know and respect the horses that delivered milk, ice and fresh vegetables in his neighborhood. After learning the farrier trade, Bettin worked with many breeds and acquired an interest in driving horses in competition. Still fascinated by the beauty and soul of the horse, he and his wife Jean, opened training and conditioning facility in Northern California. Now retired , he has taken the opportunity to present the individual characters of these magnificent creatures on canvas.Bettin has expanded his subjects to include Dogs, Cats, People and Western depictions Bettin has studied at various colleges and taken workshops for over 15 years. He has received the Best of Show in the juried show, Art at the Classic held in conjunction with the Draft Horse Classic in Grass Valley, California. He was also awarded the program cover for the Classic two years later. He has numerous Best of Show awards, has had featured-artist and one man shows and has been invited and accepted to several juried and invitational shows throughout the United States. He has the honor of being juried into the Academy of Equine Art fall held in Kentucky on three separate occasions, giving him the title of Associate Member. He has also achieved the status of Signature Member in the Sierra Pastel Society in California
